VR Fishin 2K7

A Few VR members and friends got together over the weekend to take on the fish in the Atlantic Ocean off the Cape Canaveral coast of Florida. I think we all caught a least a couple of fish, but only the elite Master Baters caught fish big enough to take home (See the attached photo album).

In the group picture form left to right, we have Fat Boy, Gilligan, Barry (Elite Master Bater), Ecks (Supreme Master Bater), Jose, Major Spaz and Denny.

Even though it may appear otherwise, no fish were harmed or molested for these photo ops. The fish that appear are or were professional stunt fish. We recommend that your pet fish or untrained fish friends do not try this at home.

Sorry for the lack of pictures, but once I started bating my hook; I could not touch the camera. Want to smell my fingers?
Ride 7/01/2006

The Art of the Motorcycle at the Orlando Museum of Art was our first stop after our 9:00AM BK meet. We spent a couple hours inspecting the various motorcycles on display. After leaving OMA, we trekked through the back roads to bypass central Orlando and arrived in Bithlo just in time for the first rain of the day. As the rain turned to drizzle, we headed toward Cocoa Beach keeping a glancing eye on the coastal horizon anticipating a space shuttle launch from Cape Canaveral. Bad weather impeded the launch, but did not stop us from having a good time. Mad Dog’s GPS guided the group to a small bar & grill where we had a late lunch and a couple of beers.

After food, drinks and some hilarious stories from Sharkbait, we decided to call it a day and head back inland. The only problem was that thousands of other motorists had the same idea. We sat in stop and go traffic as the sky opened up and dumped more rain on us. Kim, ToolGuy and I found a northern escape route and left the main road to head toward home. Despite the rain and traffic, we had a great time!

In attendance: TheToolGuy, Mad Dog Murdock, Sharkbait, pitgraphics, Kim, C50_Fatboy & Z and me too…
She even let me ride it around the block...TWICE!

Funny thing happened when we went shopping. Kim was looking at the Kawasaki Z1000, the Honda 919 and the Yamaha FZ1. We we arrived at the Honda dealer, a young salesman approached us as we began looking at the 919. So he started talking up the bike and asked if I wanted to sit on it. I told him no, the bike is not for me, but for my wife. He then suggested that the Honda 599 would be a "better fit" for her. After he left, I told her, "I guess he does not want a girl riding a bike bigger than his."
Volusia Owners League Ride 7/19/2003

The Central Florida VOL group got together for another ride. We met on the corner of State Road 50 and 19 in Crystal River. I think there may have been as many as 40 bikes involved in this ride. We visited a local bike shop, then cruised around the area for a while and then headed south to Ozello Trail, a curvy road winding through Florida’s west coast hardwood hammocks and grassy salt marshes. It is really a beautiful ride from 19 west toward the Gulf of Mexico.

Ozello Trail leads to Pecks restaurant where we all had lunch. On the way, one of the guys leaned too far into a curve and caught his floor board on the road, ejecting him and almost landing his bike in the marsh. No one got hurt and the damage was minor and could be fixed at the scene.

Froghunter and MasterJedi did a fine job with traffic control so we could all ride together as a group.

People that attended (too many people to remember everyone’s name)

Legal Goddess, Ken, Froghunter SunnyJim, Barrynfla, CountJade, BarryC, BlueJ, Saddletramp, Betty Boop, Drag Racer, Josie, MasterJedi…Sorry if I left your name off. Send me an email if you have know someone else that was there.
Our First Group Ride with the VOL Crew

We just got our shiny new 2003 Suzuki Volusia motorcycles. As I was searching the Internet for riding tips and interesting places to ride, I ran across a web site forum that focused on the Volusia motorcycle. The members indicated that anyone was welcome to ride with them. My first thought was, "Yeah, this must be some type of gang initiation."

I cautiously agreed to go on the ride, but was very careful not to leave us vulnerable incase these people were dangerous biker types. I watched the Marlon Brando movie, “The Wild One”, so I would know what type of miscreant behavior to look for. I carefully planned an escape route and gave pointers I learned from the movie to Kim about avoiding confrontation with bikers.

Fortunately they decided to meet in a public place. We were among the first to show up (like always we were on time or early). Within 30 minutes the rest of the group arrived, and about a dozen of us headed to Daytona Beach for lunch and at a very rapid pace I might add.

I am not really good with names, but they all had code names they went by. I am not sure, but I think the leader of their gang is a guy called SaddleTramp. No one formally spoke of their duties, but it was clear to me each member had a function.

The enforcer and muscleman was a guy who goes by the name of Frog Slayer or something like that, he is one tough looking biker!

There was a Russian guy there too, CountJade, who seemed to be the brains of the organization.

SunnyJim seemed to be the quiet handsome type, so I definitely kept my eye on him when he was around my wife.

MasterJedi seemed to be the “cut-up” of the group, but I think he might be a dangerous one. He has a wild look in his eyes!

There was also, Barryc who I think was packing heat! Nuff said.

One of the scariest was a guy they called the Doctor. (I think doctor is a code word for “hit man”.) Oh, his woman was there too and sssshhhhh! Don’t tell him I said this, but she is hot!

Mr. Golf, a sinister looking fellow and I overheard them say he was the leader of the East Coast chapter.

I think the head of security was a guy that went by ROVPLT. I am not sure what it stands for, but frankly I was a little afraid to ask him.

I took my new hi-powered 1.3 megapixel camera along and snapped some pictures. See the album here! VOL Ride #1
